Produced in Scotland, The Dalmore Aged 18 Years is initially matured in American oak for 14 years before being finished in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks
There is some serious age here as well as some delightful wine casks; complex and satisfying, this is an excellent cigar Scotch for someone who wants to pair a lighter wrap cigar with something less smoky but that still carries some weight.
The palate echoes big, rich caramel tones, followed by dusty cocoa powder and hints of black licorice and clove. The long, lip-smacking finish offers oak, cocoa and leather.
The 18 can firmly be described as my preferred derivation within the Principal Collection from the distillery. That being said, I cannot say the bottling is an absolute necessity.
