On Wednesday, the Tennessee whiskey distillery George Dickel announced the fifth release in its Bottled in Bond Series.
George Dickel Bottled in Bond Spring 2011 is a 12-year-old Tennessee whiskey that’s distilled from a mashbill of 84% or, 8% rye and 8% malted barley and bottled at 100 proof per Bottled In Bond regulations. Like the rest of the George Dickel portfolio, this whiskey was filtered through charcoal in classic Tennessee whiskey fashion.
“Something that makes this series so special is that whisky fans have the rare opportunity to try expertly crafted bottled in bond offerings at a great price,” Nicole Austin, director of George Dickel and luxury whiskey, said in a news release. “If you’re a fan of the category, you know the designation requires the liquid to be from just one distillation season, among other regulations. Our bottled in bond offerings are a testament to the quality of our inventory and the commitment at Cascade Hollow to consistently produce outstanding whisky. I can’t wait for both old and new fans of the series to try it!”
Starting this May, George Dickel Bottled in Bond Spring 2011 will hit shelves with a suggested retail price of $44.99 — a truly impressive price for a whiskey of this age. When considering fairness of price, many use the rule of thumb “$10 for every year.” If you follow that guideline, this whiskey is priced about $75 lower than what that rule would dictate is its “fair price.”
George Dickel recommends enjoying this whiskey neat, on the rocks or in a Perfect Manhattan.
