‘Your Best Serve of the Day’: Camila and Matthew McConaughey Ditch Their Pants During Pickleball Game for Cinco de Mayo Tequila Ad

Camila and Matthew McConaughey are at it again with their pantless shenanigans to promote the celebrity tequila brand, Pantalones Tequila. The duo played a round of pickleball sans pants in a 38-second spot while sharing the recipe for the Pantalones Pickle Margarita.

The timing of the spot couldn’t be more perfect, as Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner.

The spot features the couple about to start a round of pickleball, with Matthew McConaughey walking out onto the court with a loaded bar cart and asking the following question:

“Is Après-Pickleball even actually a thing? Well, it is now.”

Camila responds by sharing the recipe for the Pantalones Pickle Margarita with her husband and tasting one.

“Your best serve of the day,” she quips.

The couple concludes the spot by playing pickleball without any pants, giving a new meaning to the word “cheeky.”

McConaughey’s use of the phrase “après-pickleball” alludes to the phrase, “après-ski,” which is a slang term used to reference when skiers throw back a couple of cocktails after hitting the slopes — a tradition anybody can get behind.

The spot declared Pantalones Tequila the “Official Tequila of Pickleball” and the duo unveiled a print ad meant to poke fun at the “Tennis Girl” poster from the 1970s.

In October, Matthew and Camila McConaughey launched a campaign showing the couple going south of the border and riding through Mexico — sans pants, of course. The duo rode through blue Weber agave fields in Mexico as a humorous nod to George Clooney and Rande Gerber’s Casamigos ad that launched in 2013.

It seems the McConaugheys are self-aware enough to understand celebrity spirits fatigue, and the irreverent new campaign is meant to bring the category back down to earth.

“We’re precious about tequila, not our pants,” Matthew and Camila McConaughey said. “With the explosion in popularity of tequila, there’s a level of snootiness that’s crept into the category. People now talk about tequila the way they talk about wine. While we’re all for being passionate about tequila, we want to remind people that, above all, it’s meant to be fun. That’s where the name Pantalones came from and that’s why you won’t see us wearing any.”

Pantalones Pickle Margarita Recipe

Ingredients

• 1 oz Pantalones Tequila
• 1 oz Pickle Juice
• .5 oz Lime Juice
• .5 oz Agave
• 3 Jalapeños
• A glass of ice

Directions

• Add the three Jalapeños to a glass of ice, followed by the tequila
• Add equal parts pickle juice
• Add lime juice and agave
• Serve
