Del Maguey Unveils ‘Mezcalloween’ Cocktail Kit Filled With Blood-Soaked Palomas, Red-Handed Rippers and More

Del Maguey Mezcal has teamed up with Shaker & Spoon for a spook-centric home mixology kit.
Aptly named “Mezcalloween 3: A Shocker in Oaxaca Box,” the kit highlights a number of specialty salts, tonics and mixers alongside Del Maguey’s recently released Vida Puebla expression.
Spotlighted cocktails include the Paloma Muerta — made with black tortilla salt, blood orange-hibiscus cordial, sparkling grapefruit juice and rosemary salt —and the Red-Handed Ripper — made with Longbottom & Co. Virgin Mary mix, dill pickle shrub and jalapeño cocktail spice. Each of the recipes comes courtesy of agave spirits experts like Sam Jimenez and Stacey Swenson.
Founded in 1995, Del Maguey works with indigenous distillers throughout Mexico to craft small-batch mezcals reflective of their regional topography. The brand — which has now released over 20 expressions highlighting niche varietals like agave Tobala, Arroqueño, Barril and Cuixe — was acquired by French spirits giant Pernod Ricard in 2017.
