The rumors are true: Coca-Cola is teaming up with French spirits giant Pernod Ricard to combine two of their most beloved products.

On Monday, executives announced that canned Absolut & Sprite pre-mixed cocktails will be launching in Sprite and Sprite Zero Sugar flavors across the UK, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands in early 2024. Fret not — depending on sales figures, the product may expand worldwide in the coming years.

“This very promising and pioneering project brings together two leading companies who are committed to offering their consumers new experiences around premium products,” said Alexandre Ricard, CEO of Pernod Ricard.

“Sprite is a wonderful pairing for Absolut, and I’m convinced that our joining forces will bring the whole alcohol category to the next level.”

Product packaging and alcohol content have yet to be announced, though we can expect it to hover around the 5% ABV average for spirits-based canned cocktails.

Chances are, Coca-Cola is hoping to replicate the runaway success of Jack & Coke, which hit liquor store shelves in a sleek black can last April. It’s the latest in a decisive move to expand into the alcohol industry, accompanied by other Coke-owned products like Topo Chico Hard Seltzer, Simply Spiked Lemonade and Fresca Mixed.

They’re not alone.

As hard seltzers like White Claw and Truly gradually wane in popularity, co-branded cocktails from some of the beverage industry’s biggest names have emerged as a hot investment opportunity. Over the past couple of years, we’ve witnessed the launch of Hard MTN Dew, Monster Energy Beast Unleashed, Dunkin’ Spiked and, bizarrely, Sunny D Vodka Seltzer.

If Coke continues to collaborate with Pernod Ricard, future releases could include cocktails made with Jameson Irish Whiskey, Beefeater Gin, Chivas Regal and more.
