In response to Queen Elizabeth II’s recent passing, Campari Group sent a letter to ‘valued business partners’ on Sept. 9 announcing the postponing of Negroni Week celebrations in the UK, according to The Spirits Business.

The Spirits Business states that in the letter, Managing Director Brad Madigan said: “We understand Negroni Week is a much-anticipated event for the hospitality industry and the decision on whether to activate this week in your venue(s) is ultimately yours.” Madigan continues by imparting support to venues who are already commencing Negroni Week celebrations.

Campari Group will announce the new date for Negroni Week in the UK when most appropriate. No mention of the postponing can be found on Campari’s website.

Negroni Week will continue as usual outside of the UK from Sept. 12th to the 18th.

This year celebrates the initiative’s 10th anniversary. Imbibe Magazine and Campari first launched Negroni Week in 2013 to “celebrate one of the world’s most iconic cocktails in an effort to raise money for an important cause,” as the official Negroni Week website details.

“Negroni Week has grown from about 120 participating venues to thousands of venues around the world, and to date, the initiative has raised over $3 million for charitable organizations,” Negroni Week states. This year, the initiative’s official charity partner is Slow Food, an organization that works to “ensure everyone has access to good, clean and fair food” in “over 160 countries,” according to Slow Food’s website.
