The taste has a good balance of dried flowers, lemon zest, soft spices, and touches of pineapple and honey. The finish is long and subtle with hints of ginger, black tea, and honey.
Things certainly changed on the palate and finish when that rye spice really came through, accompanied by delicious burnt honey, clove, and caramel. I think it’s safe to say that we can chalk this up as another great expression from from Rabbit Hole!

House Review
Nose:
Sweet, fragrant, citrus, spice. Quite a bit going on here. Strong floral notes.
Taste:
Sweet on the palate. Moderate mouthfeel, a faint pinprick of heat. Sweet rye notes like brown sugar, apple, clove and a spicy pepper quality. Light oak.
Finish:
Long finish, again with a bit of spice. More oak here, which is welcome, to pair nicely with spicy pepper, fresh juicy apple, and a bit of brown butter.
Overall:
A very competent rye, Rabbit Hole’s Boxergrail manages to shine despite its youth.
Score:
85
