Diageo-owned spiced rum brand, Captain Morgan, has recently announced the arrival of a whole new range of ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages to its lineup – Captain Morgan Sliced. The latest range comes in 4 flavors inspired by tropical cocktails.

Each flavor represents a different fruity cocktail which includes a Pineapple Daiquiri, Strawberry Margarita, Passion Fruit Hurricane and the Mango Mai Tai flavors. Although, the brand is famously known for its spiced rums and rum cocktails the Sliced range is made from a malt base. The inspiration however leans on cocktails traditionally made with rum aside from the margarita which usually contains tequila.

“We didn’t just want to introduce another new canned drink – we wanted to slice through the ordinary with an offering that compliments the adventurous spirit of our consumers,” said Laura Merritt, CMO, of Diageo Beer Company. “Captain Morgan has always been known and loved for its bold flavor, and we’re excited to shake up the category and introduce Captain Morgan Sliced to the world.”

The Captain Morgan Sliced release follows the brand’s previous RTD released in Feb of last year; a Vita Coco coconut water and Captain Morgan collaboration

The continued release of RTDs by major brands could be fueled by the fast-growing market of Gen Z consumers. The IWSR Drinks Market Analysis released a report indicating that Gen Z prefers ready-to-drink beverages over other forms of alcohol.

Captain Morgan Sliced is available in a 12-count variety pack of 12 oz cans with an ABV of 5.8% and is now available on shelves nationwide at a suggested retail price of $19.99.
