Recently, Pin Drop Rum announced the launch of its rum in the US Market. The rum brand hails from Harbour Island in the Bahamas which is known as a “pin drop” of a place by locals and visitors given its small size and position in the Lucayan archipelago.

Pin Drop is a small batch rum blended and bottled by hand. Friends and now brand owners, Ithalia Johnson, Toby Tyler and Joe Ellison founded the brand and sought to infuse the heart and rich history of the Bahamas into a unique spirit.

The idea for Pin Drop Rum was born around Johnson’s kitchen table. Her vision was a spirit that reflected her roots and paid homage to her community. Tyler was enlisted for their expertise as a master blender. Ellison’s connections on the island helped to garner the brand’s success in the local community.

Co-Founder, Ithalia Johnson, commented, “The spirits industry is entering a new era of exploration, which is leading to heightened interest in the rum category and its versatility. With the arrival of the Rum Renaissance and fans embracing the spirit like never before, Pin Drop Rum offers a unique style to experience ultra-premium rum from an unlikely place,” said Aaron Bronfman, CEO of Pin Drop Rum. “Pin Drop Rum was created as an ode to Harbour Island and its culture, which continue to inspire us on this journey.”

Pin Drop is a blend of Caribbean rums made in both pot and column stills. Each batch is aged for 10-12 years in bourbon oak barrels blended and bottled at 43% abv.  The bottles are inspired by the Bahamas and honor the country by donning the island’s national flag, with aqua, yellow and black colors on every bottle alongside Johnson’s likeness.

Johnson told Forbes, “Pin Drop reflects the Bahamian culture because it came into existence with the spirit of independence. We started as an idea at our kitchen table and made our way into the rum world as fearless entrepreneurs. The colors of the Bahamian flag and my face are prominent on the bottle, and we hope that people see the Bahamas when they see and taste Pin Drop Rum.”

There are very few purely Bahaman rums on the US market with Bacardí being one of the biggest distilleries on the island.

Pin Drop Rum is available now in specialty liquor stores and bottle shops in Florida, South Carolina and New York with an SRP of $49.99. The rum is also available direct to consumers via the brand’s website
