Dominican rum producer, Ron Barceló is introducing a new addition to its portfolio of rums in the US. The latest edition is the Barceló Imperial Porto Cask which will become a part of the brand’s exceptional Rare Blends Collection.

The Rare Blends Collection is made from Dominican sugarcane from Barcelós own cane fields. The Porto edition will join other uniquely matured rums including Barceló’s Imperial Maple Cask rested on Maple wood and the Mizunara Cask Edition. The rare blends debuted last year in markets outside of the US.

Barceló Imperial Porto Cask is a blend of rums aged in oak barrels with different degrees of toast. The blend is then finished in Tawny 10 port wine casks.

Barceló has been making efforts to be a sustainable rum producer, making its rum using steam with almost 90% of its energy coming from renewable or green sources. The distillery is said to be among the first rum producers to be certified carbon neutral and it has achieved several certifications including Climate Neutral Now, ISO 14067 Standard, ISO 14064, and Bilan Carbone.

Barceló Imperial Porto Cask will be released just before Valentine’s on February 13. The rum will be available at select fine wine and spirits retailers across the United States with an SRP of $59.99.
