On Jan. 19, Sugarlands Distilling Company announced the release of Mark and Digger’s Mountain Legacy Corn Whiskey. The unaged corn whiskey will be available Friday at the distillery and will roll out soon in retailers across the U.S.
The whiskey was created by Mark Ramsey and Eric “Digger” Manes. Ramsey and Manes are both stars of a docudrama television series, “Moonshiners,” which chronicles the lives of people who produce moonshine within the Appalachian Mountains, North and South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
“Our new Mountain Legacy Corn Whiskey is made with a recipe Digger and I have been perfecting for years,” Ramsey said in a statement. “We had the privilege of learning the art of making whiskey from scores of old backwoods liquor producers, and we’re excited to work with our friends at Sugarlands to bring this traditional corn whiskey to everyone.”
The whiskey clocks in at 120 proof and is crafted from corn grown in Mark and Digger’s home state of Tennessee.
Ramsey and Manes will make a special appearance at Sugarlands’ Distillery from 2-5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday to celebrate the release.
“This is a tried and true backwoods liquor recipe,” Maines stated. “No fancy frills, just good ol’ fashioned authenticity in every jar.”
In September, Mark and Digger’s Apple Moonshine was used at the popular Wahlburgers restaurant in a pork sliders recipe, created by Chef Paul Wahlberg. Paul owns the restaurant in conjunction with his brothers, Donnie and Mark Wahlberg. Yes, that Mark Wahlberg.
As for Mark and Digger’s latest corn whiskey release, it comes in 750-milliliter jars and is produced and bottled at Sugarlands Distilling Company.
