2023's release of Angel's Envy Cask Strength Bourbon for the first time debuted alongside a cask-strength rye. The pair of whiskeys are the first whiskeys under the stewardship of Master Distiller Owen Martin, who joined Angel's Envy in September 2022 from Stranahan's.
Cask strength Kentucky bourbon finished in port barrels done right, this exemplifies why Angel’s Envy is such a well loved brand and truly a specialist in the barrel finishing arena.
Angel’s Envy Cask Strength once again demonstrates that Angel’s Envy can be a top tier bourbon (and now rye!) producer when it really puts its back into it

House Review
Nose:
Heavy caramel candies and figs on the nose, this is everything your regular Angel’s Envy is reminiscent of but dialed waaaaay up. Lovely and sweet, with heavy, balancing, spice.
Taste:
The palate is viscous and rich, natural and complex. With the bump in proof, the viscosity of this whiskey actually settles out nicely, feels more natural and presents tons of fruit and spice blossom. Honey, caramel candies, rich plum and fig, tobacco and cracked pepper jump on the palate.
Finish:
Long, rich finish. Full again once more with luxardo cherry, bold oak, sweet cream and more baking spice. Really balanced finish that hangs for ages.
Overall:
Well, Angel’s Envy Cask Strength once again demonstrates that Angel’s Envy can be a top tier bourbon (and now rye!) producer when it really puts its back into it. This year’s Cask Strength release is art, both in the bottle and the packaging. In a world where only taste matters here at Raiders, this is an easy recommendation, fleeting as this expression may be on shelves nationwide.
