  • The taste has cinnamon, vanilla, and baked apples, along with hints of pineapple juice and mango that add a fruity touch that lingers through the finish.

  • A fine, lightish dram that 'explains' well what the influence of French oak can be.

  • Feels hotter than its 80 proof. Extremely woody — the flavor is more akin to chewing on twigs than any kind of toffee- or vanilla-style notes you typically get from wood. Just doesn’t gel for me.

  • When it comes to money and taste the Glenlivet 15 is the best value in their core line up because even though I do like the 18 more, I’m not sure I like it $30+ more.

  • This whisky is more polished and refined than the 12 year old expression it replaces.

  • Nose:

Sweet apple, vanilla, some clove, buttercream

  • Taste:

Thin but pleasant and sweet. No heat. Apples, vanilla, some pear, a little clove and spice. Cream.

  • Finish:

Short but mild. No heat or astringency. Kind of like a weak apple juice here with some faint cream.

  • Overall:

Its fine for what it is - simple, easy, daily sipper and priced just about right. Rank 5.
