  • Definitely a rye for fans of the dry, peppery style.

  • It doesn’t bring strong age or oak flavor notes into the mix and instead centers on rye spice without overdoing it.

  • This isn't some Kentucky-style, barely legal rye; it's a monster and a spicy beast.

  • Nose:

Mega rye! If you wondered if this is a bourbon-y, barely legal rye, fear no longer. This nose is all rye: herbal, spicy, punchy and full of pep. Honey, herbal spice, ginger, dill and a hint of mint punch on the nose.

  • Taste:

Heavy on the palate, it's brown sugar on the front of the palate and breaks down into a punch of pepper, ginger, orange peel, light herbal character and a slap of oak on the palate. It's no meek pour.

  • Finish:

Long finish, intensely rye-forward and herbal. There's no doubting this is a big rye, and the components come together to make sure there is no question about it.

  • Overall:

This is a bold return for Barrell. This isn't some Kentucky-style, barely legal rye; it's a monster and a spicy beast. If rye is your thing, look no farther.
