  • It’s a different way for whiskey to taste, while still feeling like a proper American Single Malt whiskey. If you can find a bottle, I recommend it.

  • I'm pretty picky when it comes to beer so the overt "beerness" of this whiskey doesn't fully jive with me but I can see how this would be a smash hit for those that love beer and whiskey equally. Hats off to Wolves for making a unique single malt with a flavor profile I've never encountered before.

  • Nose:

Bold, sticky and rich. The malt strikes first, accentuated by caramels, rich and funky maple sugar, brown butter and bold espresso and malt. Opulent, layered and malt-forward, to say the least.

  • Taste:

Moderate mouthfeel. Fudge-forward with lots of espresso. Caramel, toffee, tobacco and a good deal of funky baking spice. The palate has moderate oak influence and is proofed nicely.

  • Finish:

Long finish full of coffee, oak, maple and brown butter, salted caramel and a touch of clove.

  • Overall:

Impressively rich, Wolves Single Malt reminds me of a Westward release that pairs together moderate tannin with a bold, powerful malt structure that's complex yet easy-drinking. You need to love malt, caramel and espresso to be a big fan here, but if that's your profile, you'll be right at home.
