Bottled by Irish whiskey producer The Busker, this whiskey is a blend of three Busker whiskeys: Single Grain, Single Malt and Single Pot Still. It's finished in bourbon, marsala and sherry casks and bottled at 80 proof. Easily found for under $25, this is a well-priced Irish whiskey.

  • The addition of water makes the flavor profile less interesting, but still very pleasant.

  • The Busker Triple Cask Triple Smooth is quite impressive, especially considering it’s bottled at just 80 proof and available for under $30 bucks!

  • More complex and interesting than your typical blended Irish Whiskey, this is something fun and tasty to sip, mix and share with guests.

  • It's not bad, but certainly far from Busker's best.

  • Nose:

Soft and sweet, full of grain with a touch of honey, pepper, faint must and some light berry notes.

  • Taste:

The palate is thin to medium in viscosity, not particularly rich or complex. Sweet vanilla, honey, grain, a prickle of ethanol, caramel and some apple and pear.

  • Finish:

Overall, the finish is short, a touch hot, and generally grain forward and leaning towards faint caramel, apples, cinnamon.

  • Overall:

Strangely enough, while I was hoping that Busker triple cask finish would combine the best features of the releases, it seems to stay fairly restrained, with youth throughout and some mild flavor. It's not bad, but certainly far from Busker's best.
