What happens when an established whiskey brand and an established wine sommelier team up? It's hard to say, but today we have a pour crafted in collaboration by Andre Mack (sommelier) and Pinhook (whiskey brand). Rye & Sons is bottled at a healthy 48.75% ABV and priced to compete at the mid-shelf. Let's dive in and see what the duo are up to.

Bold maple, tons of honey, fresh bread, baking spice. Complex and enticing.
Well composed, nice structure. A pang of youth, but it’s fleeting and minimal. Love the brown sugar, candied ginger, cake batter, fresh sourdough and bold clove. This is proofed really nicely and has a great mouthfeel.
Long finish packed with candied ginger, baking spice and maple sugar.
I was worried if this would present as youthful or “crafty,” but instead, it excels at being an awesome, spritely rye. The bottling proof was a great choice. This rye is complex and easy to enjoy with plenty of character to stay interesting pour after pour. Kudos to Pinhook and Andre on this one.
