  • I find the stuff absolutely irresistible. Dollar for dollar, ounce for ounce, this very well may be the best Johnnie Walker you will find.

  • This malt is far more intense than Red and Black Label, thicker with peat smoke and layered with honey character. A distinct Islay brininess sneaks through. Worth a look but it’s out of character for Walker.

  • This is one of the most complex whiskies Johnnie Walker has ever put on the market. Mushrooms, iodine, cashews, and orange peel are some of the notes found.

  • I love to hate on the Diageo overlords but this bottle really impressed me. It wasn’t boring, it had some good diversity. It’s delicious, sweet and floral with some nice smoke balance and I enjoyed drinking this far more than expected.

  • A whisky for both the blend and single malt drinker. And at $55, it is also fairly valued for an all-malt whisky.

  • Nose:

Honey, light floral notes and some lemon. Doughy and sweet. Mild fleeting smoke?

  • Taste:

Thin mouthfeel and very mild but theres some sweet vanilla cake, lemon zest and a tiny hint of oak and smoke. Its pleasant and unoffensive but not boring, which I find exceptional (relatively).

  • Finish:

Short-Medium with some decent heat. More than the mouth feel which is odd. Smokier here too but the doughy sweetness is still prominent and balanced.

  • Overall:

I love to hate on the Diageo overlords but this bottle really impressed me. It wasn't boring, it had some good diversity. Its delicious, sweet and floral with some nice smoke balance and I enjoyed drinking this far more than expected.
