This is an independent bottling of spirit distilled at Glenturret, and bottled by Signatory Vintage after 29 years of aging in a bourbon cask. This was bottled without filtering or coloring at cask strength, and was selected by the Luxembourg Whiskey Society. I did this sample blind, courtesy of a friend, and was given the reveal when I handed in my notes. Let's dive in.

  • I'd bet anything this is a Compass Box Great King Street but it feels a bit hotter than those normally are. I'll guess scotch, 7-11 years, 45-49% ABV, mostly bourbon maturation. Reminds me a lot of the same young waxy profile as clynelish, glenturret, dailuaine, etc. This was revealed to me to be a 29yr Glenturret, aged in bourbon casks, at 44.9% ABV. So I got the maturation, came sort of close on the distiller, and was sort of close on the proof. Womp, better luck next time.

  • Nose:

Buttery biscuits, sweet honey, toffee. Fresh baked bread, pepper.

  • Taste:

Thin on the palate, lots of apple, pepper, vanilla bean. Doughy. A little heat, not bad. Pepper presence grows a bit with time.

  • Finish:

Medium in length, some heat. Apples, fresh baked bread, pepper and honey. The tastes it leaves are nice, but not super complex.
