The Balvenie Single Barrel 12 Year Old is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky produced at The Balvenie Distillery in Dufftown. It is matured for 12 years in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks and bottled without chill filtration at 47.8% ABV. Each cask yields no more than 300 individually numbered bottles. It sells for around $80 to $100.
It’s fresh as a daisy on the palate: Golden syrup, cereal on Sunday morning, and layers of apple — dotted with notes of lemon oil and coconut husk, followed by mere wisps of baking spice.
