Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series #17 High Angel’s Share Straight Tennessee Whiskey is a limited-edition release from the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Distilled in 2016 from the distillery’s 80% corn, 8% rye and 12% malted barley mash bill, it aged on the top floor of Barrelhouse 1-13 on Coy Hill, where high temperatures accelerated evaporation and concentrated the remaining whiskey. Bottled at 138.4 proof (69.2% ABV) in 375 mL bottles, it retails for $44.75 and is available exclusively in Tennessee and at the distillery’s White Rabbit Bottle Shop.
It’s certainly packed with flavor, revealing big berry, vanilla, and oak notes that don’t obscure the signature Jack Daniel’s banana flavor. But at such a high proof, the heat ultimately wins out and overshadows everything else.
