Talisker Select Reserve House Greyjoy is a limited-edition no-age-statement Island single malt Scotch whisky released by Diageo in 2018 as part of its eight-bottle "Game of Thrones" Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection. Produced at Talisker Distillery on the Isle of Skye, Scotland, it is matured in heavily charred ex-bourbon American oak casks before being bottled at 45.8% ABV. It originally retailed for around $45 to $70.
Medium bodied. Upon taking a sip, it’s immediately clear that this is sweeter and smokier than Talisker 10 Year Old, which I attribute in part to the usage of extra-charred casks.
The nose on this GOT bottling is barley there, and although it's definitely improved since first opening it takes quite a lot of work to get anything substantial from it. The palate is much more enjoyable, and surprisingly dry and savoury too which I enjoyed. And then it all falls over when it comes to the finish.
