Alberta Springs 10 Year Canadian Whisky is produced by Alberta Distillers Limited in Calgary, Alberta, a distillery founded in 1946 and now owned by Suntory Global Spirits. It is a rye-forward Canadian whisky blend aged for ten years and then re-barreled after blending, with grain content varying batch to batch as Alberta Distillers sources grain as a commodity. It is bottled at 40% ABV and typically retails in the $25–$35 USD range.
Green apples, red grapes, and dried fruits ride waves of hot pepper and luscious caramel. Finishes in dry grain, hints of fresh-cut lumber and mild citrus pith.
The whisky has a firm spicy rye presence, with just a light undercurrent of corn sweetness. Light flavours of butterscotch, vanilla and almond flavours mingle with fine oak spices as well as bits of orange peel and dry grassy cigarette tobacco. There are a few baking spices meandering about, hints of cinnamon, some spicy ginger and wisps of cardamon.
