Bright citrus right off the bat — lemon zest and orange peel jump out of the glass. There's a nice woody backbone underneath with some vanilla sweetness holding it all together. Really inviting and complex for a first pour.
The citrus carries over beautifully on the palate. You get this vibrant, almost tangerine-like fruitiness up front that transitions into rich oak and a touch of baking spice. The proof is dialed in perfectly — it's hot enough to know it's cask strength but never overwhelming.
This is where it shines. The finish goes on and on. Woody, slightly tannic, with that citrus brightness lingering in the background. It's one of those finishes that makes you sit there for a minute before going back in for another sip.
I'm really excited about this pick. The citrus-forward profile balanced with those nice woody flavors makes it stand out from a lot of other barrel picks I've had. It's vibrant, it's complex, and that finish alone makes it worth the price of admission. This one's going to go fast.
