Beautiful nose full of oak, sassafras, dark chocolate-covered cherries, crème brûlée, gingerbread, caramel — just classic Michter’s bourbon at its best here. Decadent, oak-forward with subtle spice balancing the big sweet notes.
Just a delicious, sweet palate. Nice thick viscosity. Crème brûlée meets cherries, brown sugar, candied ginger, orange peel, chocolate shavings, almonds and toasted marshmallows. There’s a bit of oak and tannin, but not as much as I remember from previous editions of this release.
Oak was subtle on the palate but more prevalent here on the finish, leading with a blend of tannin, coffee grounds and leather, which transitions into brown sugar, caramel and pretzel.
An uber-sweet and dessert-forward batch — very little oak on the plate but plenty on the finish. All in all, delicious as always.
