  • A rock solid batch of Angel’s Envy cask strength. It’s not the most ground-breaking whiskey you’ll taste, but it’s very good and impressively balanced: Not too sweet, not too jammy, not too bitter. Just right.

  • The palate is similarly sweet and fruity, comprising cherry gelato, vanilla, and concord grapes, all underscored by nutmeg, barrel spice, and a bit of gingerbread. The finish adds blackberry jam, cloves, spiced cherry preserves, and strawberry drizzle. Though on the stronger side, the port cask flavors are nicely balanced.

  • The 2026 version hits some real highs, though that final act pulls things down just a touch.

  • Nose:

Smooth, sweet nose. Jammy port influence melds nicely with white chocolate, cornbread, cinnamon, coconut, cream cheese frosting.

  • Taste:

Thick, oily, almost fatty viscosity with a good bit of heat. Lovely jammy profile that does not overwhelm the distillate. Caramel, peanut brittle and strawberry cheesecake swim among black cherry, tart orange candies, cinnamon, cracked pepper and nutmeg. There’s a subtle bitter oak presence, as well.

  • Finish:

The finish is very pleasant, warm and long, with a big leather note joined by fresh-out-of-the-oven. slightly over-baked banana walnut muffins, tannin, vanilla, candied ginger and a touch of port that echoes with dark chocolate-covered cherries, red grape and strawberry jam.

  • Overall:

A delightful batch of Angel’s Envy Cask Strength. The port finish works spectacularly in concert with the distillate — powerful but not at all overpowering.

  • Score:

    93
