Dublin, Ohio, is extending a unique invitation to residents of Dublin, Ireland, this St. Patrick’s Day, offering a chance to enjoy complimentary beer in the “other Dublin.”

Visit Dublin Ohio, a non-profit visitor’s bureau, has launched a distinctive campaign enticing Irish travelers to explore the festivities across the pond, the Columbus Dispatch reported. Advertisements and billboards strategically placed in downtown Dublin, Ireland, beckon residents to the Dublin, Ohio, visitor’s center between March 8 and March 18, where they can claim a $200 Visa gift card upon presentation of a valid ID.

Visit Dublin Marketing Director, Sara Blatnik, expressed enthusiasm in showcasing Midwestern hospitality to their Irish counterparts.

“We’re proud to share a name, and we’d love to share a pint … or a few,” said Blatnik, per the Columbus Dispatch.

“There are a lot of great cities in the U.S. to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and we think we’re one of the best. We’re ready to show off our Midwestern hospitality to our other Dublin friends.”

The U.S. city has planned an array of St. Patrick’s Day events, including a Celtic Cocktail Trail, a March 9 parade, and a pub crawl on March 16. This creative promotional effort comes as a new direct flight connects Ireland’s capital with Cleveland, Ohio, offering an additional incentive for Dubliners seeking an unconventional St. Patrick’s Day experience.

“Plus, you’ll be the madman (or madwoman) of your friend group who really flew to America for booze,” Visit Dublin added. “And that’s priceless.”

While the promotion is limited to 25 people, Visit Dublin Marketing Coordinator Katie Thompson hopes “at least one or two” people will partake in the transatlantic celebration.

“I sure hope so,” Thompson continued in the report. “I think that’d be a fun story for them and for us.”
