Frey Ranch Malted Grain Series Quad Malt Bourbon is produced at Frey Ranch Distillery in Fallon, Nevada, using four grains grown on the family farm. The bourbon uses the same mash bill as the brand’s flagship straight bourbon, but with all four grains malted instead of only the barley.
Aged 5 years and 10 months and bottled at 45% ABV, the whiskey is typically sold in 375 ml bottles for about $59.
I pick up the strange note on the palate, but beyond that, there are touches of chocolate covered cherries, Cheerios, and freshly raked autumn leaves. It has a very bold corn sweetness that balanced with the moderate tannins. It's silky but with perceptibly high alcohol.
