Myken Arctic Island Whisky is produced at Myken Destilleri on a remote Norwegian island 32 kilometers off the coast of northern Norway, above the Arctic Circle. The distillery was founded in 2014 by Roar Larsen and Trude Tokle and crafts gin and whisky by hand using traditional methods. The whisky is made from desalinated sea water from the Arctic Ocean and distilled slowly over a live flame in copper pot stills. Most expressions are bottled at 47% ABV.
Medium bodied with a surprisingly forceful smoky hit. More “the sea on fire” than sea mist, though the atmospheric intensity fits both. Fruity, smoky and malty.
