Mad Angler Rye Whiskey is made at Iron Fish Distillery in Michigan using a mash bill of 95% estate grown rye and 5% Michigan malt. The whiskey is aged 6 years and bottled at 94 proof (47% ABV). It sells for around $53-63.
Citrus notes right away, reminiscent of orange zest and, if there is such a thing, spicy honey. It settles in the mid-palate into flavors of fig, chocolate, and almonds. A hint of rye spiciness comes back with the relatively long, pleasant finish.
