Single Cask Nation Glen Garioch 14 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky bottled by Single Cask Nation, an American independent bottler founded in 2011 by Jason Johnston-Yellin and Joshua Hatton. Distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2025, the Highland whisky was finished in a first-fill bourbon hogshead. Noted flavors include honeysuckle, malt, vanilla, pear and lemongrass.
A fruit salad supercharged with eau-de-vie made from the same fruits. Not sure if that makes sense, but there you are. A bit of honey then soothes everything. With water: apples and pears.
It’s a classic example of weird and wonderful Glen Garioch but it does come across as a little closed. I had it in the glass for thirty minutes and took another thirty just to open up.
Water hasn’t dramatically changed the flavours on the palate. It has introduced a slight fizziness, and the spice is better balanced, though it now shows from the outset of the palate. A little bitterness appears on the mid palate. The sweetness carries through to the end of the medium finish. While the mouthfeel remains a touch disappointing.
