Glengoyne 30 Year Old Sherry Cask is a single malt Scotch whisky matured for 30 years in hand-selected sherry oak casks. The annual release is limited to 5,200 bottles, with casks evaluated periodically by the malt master over three decades for final selection.
It’s dark chocolate, gentle oak influences, more of that lemon zest for some brightness. It’s long and delicate with all of the flavours from the taste section moving across your tongue to give a huge range of flavour. If big, old sherry cask matured whiskies are your thing then this will not miss a beat.
The finish is long and silky with toffee and a bit of cocoa powder. There’s a 50-year-old in the Glengoyne Fine & Rare lineup that I haven’t tasted, but I’m not sure how that bottle can get much better than this one.
