Elijah Craig is leaning into Valentine’s Day gifting with a limited flash sale tied to an unexpected category: fragrance.

Char No. 3 marks the whiskey brand’s move beyond the bottle and into personal scent, translating familiar whiskey cues into a wearable format. The fragrance takes its name from the Level 3 charred oak barrels used to age Elijah Craig bourbon and is designed to echo the sensory profile associated with barrel aging rather than replicate the smell of bourbon itself.

According to the brand, the scent opens with brighter botanical notes, including juniper berry, lavandin, and orange blossom, before moving into warmer elements tied more closely to whiskey production: nutmeg, oak barrel, birch wood, with vanilla, cocoa. The overall effect is intended to feel warm and smoky without being overpowering, drawing on spice and wood rather than sweetness.

According to Heaven Hill, the cologne was developed through a study of charred oak staves used in aging Elijah Craig Bourbon. The fragrance was formulated by Symrise, a global fragrance house, with development and manufacturing handled by Crafting Beauty. While inspired by bourbon-making, the product is a standalone fragrance and is strictly for topical use (in other words, don’t drink it).

Char No. 3 is positioned as a unisex option. For fans of bourbon culture or shoppers looking for a Valentine’s Day gift that lands adjacent to whiskey without being another bottle, this is an elegant option. the limited flash sale adds a time-sensitive hook.

Following the promotion, Elijah Craig Char No. 3 Cologne will continue to be sold for $49.99 in limited quantities. It is also slated to be available at the Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience in Bardstown, Kentucky, while supplies last.
