The global flavor trends of 2024 have arrived, ushering in a fresh and thrilling gastronomic landscape for consumers and industry players alike. As predicted by the National Restaurant Association and Innova Market Insights, this year is set to be infused with the essence of “botanicals,” particularly herbal and floral notes, and “vintage vibes.”

Eager to delve into this blend of contemporary tastes but lacking in culinary expertise? Look no further than the realm of mixology. From an aromatic Gin and Tonic to a classy Negroni Sbagliato, the following recipes are ideal for highlighting the botanical essence of gin and the vintage vibes of timeless cocktails.

  • Tonic water
  • Garnish: Slice of grapefruit and a sprig of rosemary

Fill a highball glass with ice and pour 2 oz of gin. Top up with tonic water, stir gently, and garnish with a slice of grapefruit and a sprig of rosemary.

  • 1 oz Gin
  • 1 oz Campari
  • 1 oz Sweet vermouth
  • Garnish: Orange twist

Fill a glass with ice and pour in the gin, Campari and sweet vermouth. Gently pour the prosecco on top and garnish the cocktail with an orange twist that has been expressed over the drink.

  • 1 oz Gin
  • 1/2 oz Lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz Simple syrup
  • Champagne
  • Garnish: Lemon twist

In a shaker with ice, combine gin, lemon juice and simple syrup. Shake, then strain into a champagne flute and top with champagne. Garnish with a lemon twist.

When selecting a gin for these tasty concoctions, consider turning to highly-rated traditional dry expressions such as Fords Gin, Broker’s Gin and No.3 Gin. No.3, in particular, embodies the essence of 2024’s predicted floral and herbal botanical flavors with its blend of juniper, angelica root, cardamom, coriander, grapefruit peel and orange peel.

For both novices and seasoned cocktail enthusiasts, industry experts have offered invaluable tips to craft the perfect gin-based concoction. According to Alex Eom of George Bang Bang in New York, crafting a martini demands finesse and sensitivity.

“Crafting a martini is a sophisticated endeavor, requiring delicacy and sensitivity,” Eom shared. “A dry martini emphasizes the aroma and taste of juniper berries as a base, while also having a unique flavor on its own.”

Meanwhile, Harrison Snow from @lullabynyc and @dirty.with.a.twist, suggested that leveraging a classic spirit like No.3 ensures the creation of quality classic martinis.

“When using a classic spirit like No.3 whose profile features the perfect balance of juniper, citrus and spice – you create a winning classic and signature martini every time,” Snow explained.
