Madre Mezcal Ancestral is produced in Santa Catarina de Minas, Oaxaca by third-generation mezcalero Moises Martinez. This limited-edition mezcal is made from a blend of Espadin and Tobasiche agaves using traditional ancestral methods, including hand-crushing the agaves and distilling in clay pots. It's bottled at 47% ABV and sells for around $150.

- Much like toasting spices in a hot pan, here the smoke provides a tempering quality that focuses all the flavors this mezcal practically beats you over the head with. And that’s a good thing. Give this one lots of time to grow and evolve. It’s definitely a conversation piece worth spending ample time with.
