Malibu Expands Lineup With Pink Guava Bottled Release and Dole Canned Cocktails

On Wednesday, Malibu announced the expansion of its U.S. lineup with two products aimed at shoppers looking for tropical flavors in both spirits and ready-to-drink formats.

The Pernod Ricard-owned brand has launched Malibu Pink, a guava-forward spin on its flagship product, alongside Malibu & Dole Ready-to-Drink cocktails, which come in Pineapple, Pineapple Mango, Pineapple Strawberry and Pineapple Dragon Fruit flavors. Both releases are now available across the U.S.

Malibu Pink adds guava to the brand’s established coconut profile, with pineapple named as a supporting flavor. The spirit is bottled with a pink hue and is positioned for use in simple mixed drinks or as a chilled shot. The company says the release reflects growing consumer interest in tropical fruit flavors such as guava, which have become more common in spirits and beverages.

“Malibu has always been the go-to drink for those seeking a tropical and exotic experience,” Malibu US Brand Director Saragh Killeen said in a news release. “With the launch of Malibu Pink, we’re pairing familiar favorites like coconut and pineapple with new guava-led notes as the next evolution in tropical flavor transporting summer-seekers on a new adventure.”

Alongside the bottled release, Malibu is continuing its push into canned cocktails with the Malibu & Dole Ready-to-Drink line. The collaboration combines Malibu rum with pineapple juice from Dole, sparkling water, and natural flavors.

Each 12-ounce can contains 130 calories and does not include artificial sweeteners or colors, according to the brand. Malibu says the drinks are based on how consumers most often use the rum, which is typically mixed with fruit-forward flavors.

The canned cocktails will also be promoted through live events later this spring, beginning with Stagecoach, the country music festival held April 24-26 in Indio, California.

Malibu Pink and the Malibu & Dole Ready-to-Drink cocktails join a growing number of flavored spirits and RTDs from major producers as brands compete for space in convenience-driven alcohol categories. Pernod Ricard has increased its focus on ready-to-drink formats across several brands as consumer demand for single-serve options continues to rise.
