Stranahan's Diamond Peak is distilled from 100% malted barley and handmade in small batches at the Stranahan's distillery, Colorado's first legal distillery since Prohibition. Diamond Peak is their annual limited release of special cask-finished whiskeys the distillery prizes most. It's bottled at 45% ABV and sells for around $79.99.
All told, the whiskey is beautifully balanced, dancing on the head of a pin as it weaves its way among notes of fresh fruit, toasty grains, and touches of spice. I kept going back to it over and over. Lovely, gentle stuff.
