  • This one leans a touch tannic for me, but it's still terrific bourbon.

  • Moving into double-digit age territory, it’s clear that Pinhook Bourbon’s War Vertical Series is starting to hit a great stride when it comes to the sip it delivers.

  • Nose:

Very nice, pastry-laden nose with powdered donuts, cinnamon, butterscotch, toasted oak, peanut brittle and gingerbread.

  • Taste:

Pleasant, fairly rich palate with almonds, hazelnut, coffee, black cherry and lots of dried fruit character (raisins and figs mostly) plus some cinnamon and clove, and a bit of tobacco.

  • Finish:

The finish leans sweet with cookie dough, coconut, cinnamon, saltwater taffy and a dash of light minerality.

  • Overall:

A very nice bourbon as this fun and interesting series reaches double-digit years of aging. This one leans a touch tannic for me, but it's still terrific bourbon.

  • Score:

    90
