On Monday, former “Top Gear” co-host James May introduced the latest addition to his James Gin brand — London Drizzle, a boozy homage to the changeable weather of London.
This release comes following the TV presenter’s other unique juniper-based creations, Asian Parsnip Gin and American Mustard Gin.

London Drizzle Gin is crafted with the aim of encapsulating the distinct olfactory sensation one experiences on a summer day when it begins to lightly rain.
“Since most gins are designated ‘London Dry’ – and London generally isn’t, James came up with the idea of making one that evoked the smell of rain on a hot pavement in Regent’s Park,” the brand explained.
May, in a social media video, mentioned the term “petrichor,” a word for the earthy aroma released into the atmosphere when rain first hits the ground on a warm day. To recreate this specific scent, May chose beetroot, a root vegetable with a similar aromatic profile, along with a blend of botanicals such as lovage, bay, orange and ginger.

London Drizzle Gin, resting at 40% ABV, is now available for pre-order for £39 ($48.31) per 70cl bottle.
Additionally, enthusiasts can be treated to a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the gin’s advertisement production on the What Next YouTube channel, co-hosted by May and his fellow “The Grand Tour” star, Richard Hammond.
In March, May revealed that he can’t live without gin during a video produced by Drive Tribe, an automotive-centered media property he co-owns.
“As I’ve said several times before… alcohol is god’s way of apologizing to humanity for making it self-aware,” May said in the video.
“So, gin is delicious,” he added while holding a bottle of his American Mustard Gin. “Mine is particularly delicious, it’s won awards, and it makes things okay.”
