Wenzel Whiskey, based in Covington, Kentucky, operates out of a historic 1873 building and specializes in blending whiskey. Wenzel Whiskey Rectifiers Rye is a blend of three Indiana-sourced ryes made from a 95% rye, 5% malted barley mashbill. It includes two 8-year barrels and one 7-year barrel and is bottled at 57.2% ABV.
This being an apparent MGP rye whiskey blend, there’s always a question of how a particular brand plays with it. In Wenzel’s case, this expression works exactly as it should, providing a good amount of spice and the like. It’s a good sipper and also useful for cocktails.
