This is a blend of full maturation sherried single malts from a variety of producers. It is rumored to contain malt from GlenDronach, Glengoyne and Tamdhu.
A gorgeous, unctuous mouthfeel with flavors spun around bright sparks of orange, dark toffee, and rich maltiness, melding to black cherry, stewed fruits, licorice, and charred oak.
All told, this is one of the best blended malts I’ve encountered all year, and any fan of malt whisky will do himself a service by tracking down a bottle.
This is really a great bottling, despite it being hard to find and generally not well known. I was beyond surprised and quite impressed. It's going to be a pretty clear shelf staple for me, going forward.
Medium mouth feel, no heat. Sweet honey, figs, jammy raspberry. Vanilla, caramel, cream. Tobacco, really rich for the proof.
Finish:
Medium length, only mild heat. Sweet and fruity, jammy and rich. Some caramel and yeast, as well.
Overall:
This is really a great bottling, despite it being hard to find and generally not well known. I was beyond surprised and quite impressed. It's going to be a pretty clear shelf staple for me, going forward.
