Glenrothes 25 Year Old Single Malt Scotch is matured entirely in sherry-seasoned oak casks, with a high proportion being first fill. Part of the Soleo Collection, this Speyside single malt is aged 25 years and sold in 750ml bottles. The suggested retail price is $749.99.
The nose offers pineapple, mango, malt, and nutmeg. Richly sherried on the muscular palate, with caramel, citrus fruits, licorice, and wood tannins. The finish is long and drying, with sherry-soaked old oak. Glenrothes at its very best.
Nuts and vanilla extract come back out to play, each a touch more subdued compared to the nose. Both tart and tangy across the midpalate, it eventually dips into orange marmalade territory, with just a few flecks of baking spice to bridge the fruity and wood-forward flavors.
