Atōst is a grape-based aperitif with 18% ABV and a $35 suggested retail price. Created by Cindy Pressman and her husband Kyle, it uses a grappa-style brandy base and California fruits and botanicals sourced partly from Ventura and the Central Coast. The spirit draws on a family recipe and Cindy’s Mexican-American heritage in citrus farming and agave cultivation.

On the next sip this drink became tangy and sweet with upfront herbal notes that are distinctive. The mouthfeel is light and crisp which was unexpected due to the color but rather welcoming creating a refreshing sip.
Perfected from a family recipe, the California fruits and botanicals in this grape-based spirit (a grappa-esque brandy base) impart gentle bitterness with notes of rose, orange, strawberry and subtle herbs. It works well on its own or as a Spritz with soda or sparkling wine.
