Heritage Distilling Holding Company on Tuesday announced the launch of Bitcoin Bourbon, a limited-edition Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey linked to cryptocurrency culture. The release marks the distillery’s adoption of a new Cryptocurrency Treasury Reserve Policy and a shift toward accepting Bitcoin for purchases.
The whiskey is bottled at 106.15 proof a nod to the meme “6.15,” which is used to signify financial independence in crypto culture. The bourbon will be sold exclusively through Heritage’s direct-to-consumer platform, with Bitcoin accepted as payment.
“With Bitcoin Bourbon, we’re blending centuries of whiskey-making culture with the frontier mindset of crypto adopters,” Heritage co-founder and CEO Justin Stiefel said in a news release. “We believe in meeting our customers where they are—and increasingly, they’re asking to pay with digital assets.”
In addition to the whiskey launch, Heritage will host a sweepstakes to give away one full Bitcoin. Consumers can enter by joining the pre-release list at heritagedistilling.com/bitcoinbourbon, which grants five free entries. Further entries can be earned by purchasing the product with Bitcoin after release. No purchase is necessary, and the contest is open to U.S. residents 21 and older.
“This isn’t just about what’s in the bottle,” said Matt Swann, chair of Heritage’s Technology and Cryptocurrency Committee. “It’s about aligning with a values-driven community that believes in ownership, transparency, and innovation. Bitcoin Bourbon is an invitation to drink with purpose.”
Final product details, including the bourbon’s age and mashbill, will be released closer to the launch date. The initiative is part of Heritage’s broader strategy to integrate cryptocurrency into its operations and engage a digital-forward consumer base.
Heritage has been recognized as North America’s most awarded craft distillery by the American Distilling Institute for 10 straight years. Alongside its whiskey portfolio, the company produces vodka, gin, rum and canned cocktails. It operates nationally across wholesale, on-premise, e-commerce, and tribal markets through its Tribal Beverage Network partnership with Native American communities.
The company has not disclosed how much Bitcoin it plans to hold under its new policy. Updates are expected as the product release approaches.
