Alt-metal fans, rejoice! Late-90s legends Deftones are dipping their toes back into the tequila game with a second album-adjacent bottling.

In a recent Instagram post, the band announced that it was teaming up with Abre Ojos for a limited-edition añejo inspired by their 2020 album Ohms. The two had previously collaborated in 2021 for a bottling inspired by White Pony, arguably the band’s most famous album.

The new añejo — which will be rolling out this week at $99 — is distilled from a mix of highland and lowland agave before being aged two years in used American oak whiskey barrels.

For die-hard fans, the boozy release represents the collision of two eras.

Founded in 1988 by frontman Chino Moreno, Deftones’ angsty, nü-metal-inflected sound dominated the charts throughout the early 2000s alongside contemporaries like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park. Decades later, Deftones has experienced a resurgence on social media platforms like TikTok thanks to the Y2K trend and an enduring love of chains, black mesh tank tops and leather jackets.

Abre Ojos says that this is the first of a two-part series, indicating that another album-inspired bottling can be expected down the line.
