NYC’s First Alcohol-Free Members Club to Open This Fall

A new private club opening this fall in Manhattan is offering an alternative to the city’s nightlife: no alcohol.
The Maze, launching at 43 West 24th Street, is positioning itself as New York City’s first alcohol-free members club. Spanning 4,600 square feet, the space will include a New American restaurant, a high-end coffee bar, flexible event areas and several lounges. The aim is to provide a setting for socializing, networking and personal growth — without the presence of alcohol.
Founder and CEO Justin Gurland, who has been sober since age 25, says the idea behind The Maze is to rethink what it means to belong and connect in a city known for its bar-centric social culture.
“At The Maze, we’re not just removing alcohol — we’re reimagining what it means to belong,” Gurland said in a news release. “We’re excited to bring The Maze to the city, offering a welcoming space where people can pursue more meaningful experiences, supporting intentional living and personal growth.”
Gurland, a Licensed Master Social Worker, has spent much of his career helping others through recovery. He sees The Maze as an extension of that work — a space where people can build community and thrive without alcohol.
The club will host a range of events, including networking nights and its signature Cornerstone Dinner series. Programming is designed to encourage connection, both personally and professionally.
Membership applications open in summer 2025. Those interested can join a waitlist here.
The Maze enters a growing space of sober-focused social venues, reflecting broader shifts in how people approach health, wellness and community.
