Bottled at 46% ABV, The GlenAllachie 18 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch is matured in a mix of bourbon, oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and virgin oak casks.
A good composition of different cask types and overall a fairly enjoyable whisky. But it doesn’t excel in any way and stays too much in the neutral middle, with a complexity that is perhaps below par given the age.
There are some subtle citrus notes, gentle spices and light flavors of mocha. Give it a little while, and the finish will reward you with fruitier notes.
