Released in February 2025, this 10-year-old bourbon comes to us from the World Whiskey Society. We'll get into the bourbon but first need to discuss the packaging. Encased in a collector's case, the bottle is joined by a 2-in-1 cork gun stopper and display revolver. As for the bourbon within the flashy case and bottle: It was distilled by Scissortail in Oklahoma from a mashbill of 51% corn, 45% wheat and 4% malted barley (based on that mashbill, you'd guess MGP, but apparently it was distilled by Scissortail). The Doc Holliday 10-Year-Old Special Edition Collector's Case is available for $249 on the WWS online shop.

  • Altogether, this is a very enjoyable bourbon ‚ though not one I'd recommend spending $249 on. Of course, that doesn't factor in the visual aspect of the case and revolver.

  • A larger-than-life collector’s edition bottle that is the very definition of “what you see is what you get” when it comes to bourbon.

  • Nose:

Blackberry jam, plum, raisin, honey, apple, cinnamon and a distinct vinegar note

  • Taste:

The mouthfeel is moderate but on the thin side initially, but it thickens up after a little time in the mouth. Lovely Golden Delicious apple note is joined by honey, wheat funk, praline, cinnamon, tobacco and a pop of bubblegum

  • Finish:

The finish is medium in length, concluding with more wheat funk, apple peel, a touch of pepper and then a sweetness that reminds me of a buttery Chardonnay, mixed with a faint herbaceous note that's reminiscent of an Italian aperitif.

  • Overall:

Very cool decanter, and the bourbon inside strikes some great notes (I love the apple profile), but the wheat in the mashbill stands out a touch more than I'd like. Altogether, this is a very enjoyable bourbon ‚ though not one I'd recommend spending $249 on. Of course, that doesn't factor in the visual aspect of the case and revolver.
