  • This is a complex and delicate whiskey, but one that reveals some more assertive notes as it opens up.

  • Nose:

Fruit-forward nose with plenty of red wine influence. Notes of raspberry, fuji apple, mango, candied pecans and salted caramel.

  • Taste:

Red wine drives the boat here but is pleasantly balanced by notes of leather, barrel char, clove, toasted marshmallow, pepper and some earthy character.

  • Finish:

Tobacco guides a long finish, followed by toasted marshmallow, black pepper, clove, cinnamon, cacao nibs and espresso.

  • Overall:

A super enjoyable Irish single malt. It's bold, complex and lovely. I'm not usually partial to red wine cask finishes, as I often find they result in a one-dimensional whiskey. That is not the case at all here. Red fruit and tropical character mingles with smoky and baking spice notes. This is really well balanced and worth the $60 asking price.
