  • There’s still enough going on through the opening half of the sip that helps it shine, but that’s just not enough to wow. It really feels like it should have a slightly higher ABV.

House Review
  • Nose:

    Sweet and spice forward on the nose. Apple pie, orange peel, flaky pastry, honey and toffee. A light, peppery, kick. Touch of oak, but it's fairly mild overall.

  • Taste:

    Thin on the palate, sweet and easy to drink. A bit of brown sugar, honey, cracked pepper, light oak. A touch of orange peel, it's light on the tannins. Surprisingly thin mouthfeel, not much tannin structure. Ethanol is nonexistent - drinks very mild.

  • Finish:

    Short to medium finish. Brown sugar, orange peel and a touch of tobacco see this dram out.

  • Overall:

    All in all, there's nothing intrinsically wrong with Wild Turkey's Father & Son release. It's approachable, easy to sip, and sticks with a pretty mild profile: sweet and thin. It could certainly be more interesting, but if you're looking to drop big bucks on something everyone will like, nobody will hate, but will ultimately wow no-one: this is your ticket.
